The “Joining Hands Across the Water” project was founded in 2002 by the distinguished International award winning artist Scott Baron following his success as the Winner of Japan 2001 Works of Art Competition with his painting “Trusting Relationships in Space and Nature.”

Scott said: "Hands of friendships across the brooks, streams, rivers, seas and oceans of the world are desirable in sharing understanding and developing trusting relationships between human beings . . . and helping to connect and celebrate their diverse cultures and environments."

Since then, based on this simple idea, this ground-breaking project has been highly successful and inspirational in both UK and Japan.  It has established on-going activities, a unique `Project Model` and exchange process between both countries.
